Tuesday, March 14 was the 20th Day of Action for Rivers. Groups all over the world are organizing actions throughout the month of March to protect our rivers.
Sri Lanka Association for Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (SLAFAR) in collaboration with National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency (NARA) and Water Resources Science and Technology (WRST) celebrated ‘Day of Action for Rivers’ on 16th March 2017 at NARA auditorium, Colombo 15 by organizing two events.
- An invited lecture on “Protect our Rivers”. This lecture was delivered by Prof. Ivan Silva, Chairman, Water Resources Science and Technology
- Screen the documentary film, “Belo Monte: After the Flood” which was produced by award-winning documentarian Todd Southgate, details the impacts of one of the world’s most controversial hydropower projects: Belo Monte Dam in Brazil
These events were followed by an interactive discussion session.
