The visiting lecture on “Renewable Energy: Past, Present and Future” by Professor I.M. Dharmadasa, the Head of the Electronic materials and sensor group of the Sheffield Halam University in the United Kingdom was Jointly organised by SLAFR and Aquatic Resources Explorers’ Society (AQRES) of Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries. Prof. Dharmadasas’ concept on “Solar village” inspired the gathering while the discussion session was productive in hearing many views and comments. The possibility of uplift the economic status of rural coastal communities, especially shrimp farmers, hatchery operators and fish processors, by implementing the concept of “Solar Village” was deeply discussed
